The Berlin Major 2023, also known as ESL One Berlin Major 2023, is coming soon. The best Dota 2 teams will battle it out for the massive prize pool and DPC ranking points needed to qualify for The International 2023, the premier eSports event of the year. There will be 18 teams in all in the Major tournament. There will be 4 participants from China and Western Europe, 3 teams from Eastern Europe and South East Asia each, and 2 teams from North and South America will come to Berlin.

The names of all competitors have been decided after the first divisions of DPC 2023 Tour 2.

ESL One Berlin Major 2023 format

The Berlin Major will be divided into two phases - group stage and play-offs. The group stage of the Berlin Major 2023 will take place in a Round Robin format. Participants will be divided into 2 groups of 9 teams. The format of all the matches will be bo2. Teams ranked in the top 4 will advance to the top flight play-offs. The teams ranked 5th-6th will qualify to the lower reaches of the grid. The remaining teams will leave the tournament.

The final stage of the ESL Berlin Major will be presented as a Double-Elimination net. Teams will meet in bo3 matches, and the ESL One Berlin Major 2023 champion will be determined by a bo5 series.

ESL One Berlin Major 2023 dates and location

ESL One Berlin Major 2023 will start on April 26th and run until May 7th. The best teams from around the world will play in Berlin, the capital of Germany. The matches will take place at the Velodrom arena, a covered cycle track located in the Prenzlauer Berg. Previously it was considered the largest concert venue in the city. Up to 12,000 Dota 2 fans can be lined up in this arena.

Organiser ESL One Berlin Major 2023

The Berlin Major 2023 is organized and publicized by ESL. The Electronic Sports League has been in the European sports market since 2000 and the studio has been active in Dota 2 since 2014. Known for hosting events such as ESL One Stockholm Major 2022, ESL One Birmingham 2018, ESL One Katowice 2018, ESL One Hamburg 2017 as well as regional DPC leagues in North America and Eastern Europe for the 2021-2022 season.

ESL One Berlin Major 2023 prize pool distribution

Competitors will compete for a total of $500,000 in prize money and 2,700 DPC points, 800 more ranking points than the previous Major tournament this season, due to the format of the Dota Pro Circuit 2023.

The distribution of prize money at ESL One Berlin Major 2023 is shown below:

• 1st place - $200,000 - 500 DPC points
• 2nd place - $100,000 - 450 DPC Points
• 3 place - $75,000 - 400 DPC points
• 4 place - $50,000 - 350 DPC points
• 5-6 place - $25,000 - 300 DPC points
• 7-8 place - $12,500 - 200 DPC points

The remaining teams will go home with no participation award.
