LoL World Championship 2024 Schedule – Swiss Stage Day 8: Two More Teams To Go Out

The group stage of the League of Legends World Championship 2024 is gaining momentum. Today, October 12, marks the final day of the 4th round of the Swiss Stage, or Day 7 of direct matches (if we exclude the break from October 7 to 10).
Today's schedule for the LoL World Championship 2024 includes only two matches, but that doesn't lessen their importance. At such late stages of LoL Worlds 2024, there's no room for easy or insignificant games. Well, maybe just a tiny bit.
So, we invite you to take a look at the LoL World Championship 2024 Schedule for the 8th game day or the final day of the 4th round of the Swiss Stage.
LoL World Championship 2024 Swiss Stage Day 8
Today, October 12, two matches will be played at the LoL World Championship 2024. Both matches, involving four clubs, will take place in the 1-2 bracket. This means that by the end of the day, we’ll say goodbye to two more teams.
Now, let's take a closer look at the games. Maybe one of them will surprise us.
Weibo Gaming vs Fnatic (Oct 12, 14:00 CET)
The first match of the Worlds 2024 Schedule on Day 8 of the Swiss Stage will be Fnatic vs Weibo Gaming. FNC and WBG will face off in the 1-2 bracket in a best-of-three (Bo3) series: the winner will advance to the decisive 2-2 round, while the loser will leave the LoL World Championship 2024 with nothing.

Ending their run at the 1-2 Swiss Stage is not a good look for either FNC or WBG. Both teams have quite successful histories at Worlds tournaments and would certainly like to make it to the playoffs. This is especially true for the LPL residents.
Weibo Gaming, the successor of the well-known Chinese organization Suning, has been on the professional League of Legends scene since 2021, and this is their second Worlds tournament. In 2023, Weibo Gaming reached the top 2 but lost in the grand final to the formidable T1.
This year at Worlds 2024, things haven’t been going as smoothly. Weibo Gaming started with a loss to Gen.G, followed by another defeat to G2 Esports. Of their three matches, two were against Western teams and only one against an LCK representative, and now they are once again up against Fnatic, a team from the "Western" League of Legends. Everything is in the hands of Crisp and company.
As for Fnatic, they have been on the competitive League of Legends scene much longer than Weibo Gaming, and they even won a Worlds tournament back in the distant 2011. Although that has no relevance today, it’s still quite an achievement.
Throughout 2024 (and in fact in previous years), Fnatic have carried the burden of being Europe's "second" team, consistently losing to G2 Esports in the domestic LEC league. In international tournaments, G2 have also been slightly more successful, but not always and not entirely. For example, at Worlds 2023, Fnatic performed better than G2, even though both teams left the championship at the same stage.
At Worlds 2024, Fnatic fought against some tough opponents — DPlus KIA in the first round and Top Esports in the second. Unlike WBG (who lost to G2), Fnatic didn’t throw any unnecessary games, so their place in the 1-2 bracket is entirely logical.
The match between WBG and Fnatic is quite interesting because, for the winner, regardless of who it is, the next round will be easier, as they will play against the winner of the Liquid vs GAM Esports match. Without jumping ahead, it seems like we’re watching a game for a playoff spot, despite both teams being at 1-2. It should be exciting.
Team Liquid vs GAM Esports (Oct 14, 17:00 CET)
The second match of the Worlds 2024 schedule will be GAM vs Liquid. The teams will play today, October 14, at 17:00 CET in the 1-2 bracket. The format is Bo3.

For both teams, landing in the 1-2 bracket is already a success, regardless of Liquid's status in a major region like NA.
Throughout their history, Liquid has never finished higher than Top 12 at Worlds 2024, so reaching the 2-2 bracket would be a milestone, guaranteeing a 9-11th place finish. Considering their opponent, this is a very realistic goal.
As for GAM Esports, they reached the Top 9-11 in 2017, and they, like Liquid, have a good chance of repeating that success from seven years ago. They’re only one Bo3 away from achieving this, and given Liquid’s struggles against paiN Gaming, this match looks winnable.
