Who Is Going to Win the Dota 2 - DPC 2023: Division I?
Bogdan LashchenkoThe Dota Pro Circuit (DPC): Division I is a yearly Dota 2 competition that sees the best teams from around the world compete in different Valve (Dota 2 developer) sponsored events. The teams that rack up the most points in these tournaments then qualify for The International, which serves as Dota’s annual world championships and boasts the biggest prize pool in all of esports.
DPC events are known for their intensely competitive atmosphere and some of the best gameplay of any esports event. You can live stream and bet on every single DPC tournament at GGBet Dota 2. In this article, find out how the DPC 2023: Division I works, upcoming events, and what teams to keep an eye on!
How the DPC 2023: Division I Works?
DPC 2023: Division I runs for 6 months, from January up to June. The league is split up into 6 different regions, each featuring 8 teams, these regions include:
- South America
- North America
- Europe
- Southeast Asia
- CIS
- China
Teams compete against other teams from their regions in small events which feature a $205,000 prize pool. Based on their performance, they earn points and entry to Majors, which comprise the best teams from the different regions. These Majors take place in different cities around the world and feature $500,000 prize pools. Also, the top 12 teams from the DPC, based on points accumulated, earn direct entry into The International, while the remaining 8 spots need to be won via regional qualifiers.
Get Excited For the Bali Major
We are getting towards the end of the DPC 2023: Division I and there is only one Major left, which will take place in Bali from Jun 29 - Jul 09, 2023, and feature a juicy $500,000 prize pool. The winning team will scoop $200,000 and 600 DPC points which will go a long way in helping a team secure a spot at The International.
Currently, no team has qualified for the Bali Major, as they still need to battle it out in the regional qualifying event. However, you can expect all of the heavy hitters to take part, including Gaimin Gladiators, Team Liquid, Team Aster, and PSG.LGD.
In total, 18 teams will compete in the event. The 18 teams will be split into two groups. The teams will play their group members, and then the top teams from each group will advance to the playoffs. The double elimination playoffs will be best-of 3 series, and then the grand final will be a best of 5 series.
We are expecting fireworks from the Bali Major as this is the final Major of the team. Teams will be looking to end the season on a high note and start peaking for The International. Don’t be surprised if you see some teams trying out some unique strategies and witness some epic back and forth action.
Based on the results of the previous 2 Majors (Lima and Berlin) you would be crazy not to back Gaimin Gladiators. The European team that was only founded in 2022 already has over $1 million in winnings and looked dominant in both of their victories.
Gaimin Gladiators has put together an incredibly talented roster featuring the likes of dyrachyo, Quinn, Ace, tOfu, and Seleri. They are coached by former Danish player Cy, who has managed to bring players from various European countries together and got them playing some exceptional Dota 2, their aggressive and unique style has shocked a lot of the other teams who have struggled to game plan against them.
We are predicting Gaimin Gladiators to make a serious run at The International this year. Don’t be surprised if they end up lifting the trophy, they are, without a doubt, the most in-form Dota 2 team on the planet right now!
The other in-form team is Team Liquid. Team Liquid has been crushing Dota 2 tournaments since the game was first released and boasts over $25 million in lifetime tournament winnings. They finished second at the Lima Major and Berlin Major and looked on fire until they eventually fell to Gaimin Gladiators in the final.
Team Liquid has not shown they are capable of beating Gaimin Gladiators in Majors but don’t count them out completely. We are confident they will eventually figure out Gaimin Gladiators, and the Bali Major might be the perfect event to make it happen!
Who is Going to Win the DPC 2023: Division I?
The DPC 2023: Division I is essentially a two-horse race with Team Liquid on top with 1500 points and Gaimin Gladiators in second place with 1240 points. In 3rd place is Talon Esports on 1020, but they are too far back with just the Bali Major remaining. Most likely, Team Liquid will win the DPC 2023. For Gaimin Gladiators to win, they would have to finish top 2 at the Bali Major, which seems likely, but Team Liquid would have to finish 7th or lower, which we just don’t see happening.
