Welcome to EGamersWorld.
The Counter-Strike 2 competitive scene boasts a plethora of tournaments of all calibres and sizes. While title championships like BLAST Premier and tournaments from ESL are on pause, the professional scene is filled with other tournaments that are no less interesting and exciting than The International.
One of the central TIR-A tournaments of the autumn is Thunderpick World Championship 2024. Thunderpick World Championship 2024 will feature 16 teams competing for a prize pool of $850,000.
Among the contenders for the $500,000 prize money will be The MongolZ and Cloud9, who will open Group B with a head-to-head match.
Let's try to figure out which team will earn their first win in the group stage and improve their standings.
Let's go.
Form The MongolZ
Let's open the analysis of The MongolZ vs Cloud9 match with an analysis of The MongolZ's form. In this match the best team in Asia will play the first number one with odds to win at 1.47.
Previously, the team played mostly in TIR-2 tournaments, where they were not always successful. Among the landmarks are the victory at the XSE Pro League: Online Stage and ESN National Champioship 2023.
However, the Mongolians have also made their mark on the international scene. They played at the BLAST.tv Paris Major, where they finished in the top 20-22.
- The MongolZ roster: bLitz, Techno4K, 910, mzinho, Senzu.
The conditional roster newcomers are mzihno and 910. Both players joined the team a month ago, and before that they played for local teams like Clutch and The Shine.
In the first match at IEM Cologne 2023 The MongolZ will face MOUZ, who have already reached the group stage of the tournament. As you have already realised, The MongolZ lost their match, but lost on dops, Ledgeiv Nuke with a score of 17-19.
Then MongolZ ran over Into The Breach with the score 2-0, and then closed FURIA with a similar score. Thus advanced to the group stage.
In the first match of the group stage of IEM Cologne 2023 The MongolZ faced Heroic. Despite the huge difference in the level of play, The MongolZ managed to take the first map and almost slammed Heroic on their own peak, Overpass, but they didn't finish and eventually lost with the score 1-2. However, it didn't go any further and the result was a top-16 finish.
After playing in the big tournament, TheMongolZ played a lot of smaller events. These included the MESA Pro Series: Fall 2023, with a top-1 finish, a win at ESL Challenger League Season 46: Asia-Pacific, and a top-4 finish at ESL Challenger at DreamHack Atlanta 2023.
In the 2024 season, before playing directly at the PGL CS 2 Copenhagen Major Championship 2024, MongolZ won the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024: East Asia Qualifier, which guaranteed passage to the Asia-Pacific RMR. The break included a Top 1 at eXTREMESLAND 2023 and a Top 20 at IEM Katowice 2024, but after a win at PGL Copenhagen 2024: Asia-Pacific RMR, where MongolZ celebrated the victory.
At PGL CS2 Copenhagen Major 2024 The Mongolz did not achieve much success, although they managed to reach the top 16.
In the group stage of ESL Pro League Season 19 The MongolZ performed very well. They defeated Falcons and G2 Esports 2-0 to advance to the play-offs. However, the first round of the play-offs ended with The MongolZ losing to Vp with a score of 1-2, eventually finishing in the top 12.
The MongolZ went on to take the top-1 spots at MESA Nomadic Masters Spring 2024 and YaLLa Compass 2024. There were more Top-9s at Esports World Cup 2024 and a second place finish at Skyesports Championship 2024.
One of the central tournaments of the season for MongolZ was the IEM Cologne 2024 Championship, where the club managed to reach the top-12. The same result was also at the ESL Pro League Season 20. In addition, the MongolZ club travelled to IEM Rio 2024, where they finished in the top 8.
Mappul The MongolZ
The most successful map for 3 months was Ancient. The team has 100% winrate, but they played the map only 1 time.
Among the acceptable options for the peak there is Mirage with 1 win 1 loss.
The MongolZ has a minus winrate on the other maps in the competition pool.
Form C9
Let's continue the analysis of the match C9 - The MongolZ with the analysis of C9's form. In this match they will play as an outsider: the odds for a win are around 2.5.
C9 had a pretty busy 2023 season. "Cloudy" marked a passage to the grand finals of ESL Pro League Season 17 and a victory at the BLAST Premier: Spring European Showdown 2022.
In addition, the team won the commercial BB Playlist. Urbanistic. In April, C9 seriously stumbled: they lost two qualifications at BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023 and missed the only Major of the season.
Next up was a top-4 finish at IEM Rio 2023 and a win at Brazy Party. Before IEM Cologne 2023, C9 failed at IEM Dallas 2023 (top-8) and BLAST Premier: Spring Final 2023 (top-8).
- Cloud9 lineup: ICY, Ax1Le, BoombI4, InterZ, HeavyGod.
Before Gamers8 Cloud9 attended another major summer tournament - IEM Cologne 2023. The most prestigious event went well for Cloud9: not good, but not bad either.
A very difficult Long Corner in Cologne forced Cloud9 to mobilise all their resources in order not to drop out at the group stages, and these resources were enough until the first round of play-offs, where C9 were defeated by Vitality.
Next, C9 visited Gamers8, but even there everything was not so good. At the TOP-8 stage the team faced ENCE, and they couldn't do anything against the overclocked Finns. And that's how they ended up in the TOP-8.
In their debut match at EPL Season 18, Cloud9 played against Eternal Fire. The Turks, being a cheerful team on paper, failed to outplay C9 at least on one of the cards: the match ended with the score 2-0 (16-11 Vertigo, 16-12 Eternal Fire).
In the play-offs match C9 faced Complexity. Being the absolute favourite of the match, Cloud9 failed to give CoL a fight and lost 0-2.
Cloud9's failures didn't end there. After getting into the net of the last chance of EPL Season 18, Cloud9 lost 1-2 to Liquid in a rather lacklustre manner, thus failing to qualify for the play-offs of the prestigious tournament. At the end of EPL S18, C9 finished in the top 20, which, to put it mildly, is weak for a top-tier team, which C9 was labelled as by literally everyone.
However, before the IEM Sydney IEM Long Convergence, C9 managed to rehabilitate themselves a bit for their mediocre performance at the last TOP tournaments. C9 won the BLAST Premier: Fall European Showdown 2023, earning them a slot at the BLAST Autumn Finals.
Before competing at Thunderpick World Championship 2023, Cloud9 made an appearance at IEM Sydney 2023. It wasn't great there, as C9 failed to make it past the group stage, crashing out after losing to Complexity.
Thunderpick World Championship 2023 was C9's first tournament with BoombI4 officially as captain. It worked out pretty well: Cloud9 made it to the play-offs of the tournament and finished in the top 4, losing in the semi-finals to the future champions from FaZe with a 1-2 score.
At the end of the last season C9 played two BLAST tournaments. It was BLAST Premier Fall Final 2023 followed by Top 4 and Top 6 at BLAST Premier: World Finals 2024.
The first big tournament in 2024 for C9 was BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2024. There, the Cloudies had a rather mediocre performance with a final top-12 at the end of the tournament.
Their performance at PGL CS 2 Major Copenhagen 2024 was not the best either. There, C9 made it to the play-offs after a 3-1 score in the Elimination Stage, but then dropped out in the first match of the main stage after a 0-2 loss to Vitality.
They also attended IEM China 2024, where they finished in the top 9-12. Later, C9 finished in the top 13 at BLAST Premier: Fall Groups 2024. After that, the only title tournament where C9 played was BLAST Premier: Fall Showdown 2024, where Clouds finished in the top 16. After that, C9 played at the B-Tier Championships, but even there they couldn't boast of special results.
Cloud9 Mappool
The best map of C9 is Vertigo. There are 2 wins in 3 matches.
Next is Inferno. On Inferno Cloud9 played 5 times, of which they won 3 matches.
Minus winrate on 4 maps at once: Ancient (42% wins in 7 matches), Overpass (33% wins in 3 matches), Anubis (3 matches, 33% wins), Mirage (2 matches, 0 wins).
History of head-to-head meetings C9 - The MongolZ
Previously the teams have not played each other in official matches.
Predicted result of The MongolZ vs Cloud9 at Thunderpick World Championship 2024
The C9 project, which was conceived as a dream team, quickly outlived itself and now C9 is a TIR-2 team with endless ambitions. MongolZ, on the other hand, are progressing and improving their game, which is evident from their play in TIR-S tournaments. I think MongolZ should run over their vis-a-vis.
Bottom line: The MongolZ win.
