The Counter-Strike 2 festivities are heating up with the games at PGL CS2 Copenhagen Major 2024. We're watching the action on the Challengers Stage, where 16 teams began battling for spots on the Elimination Stage.

Today we're looking at day 3 of the Challengers Stage, with 12 teams remaining in the race to advance to the next stage: Cloud9 and Heroic have already qualified, while AMKAL and KOI are out. But Eternal Fire and GamerLegion remain in the game.

Both teams have 2-1 stats and after their head-to-head match one of the teams will advance to the next stage. It remains for us to find out which of the pair Eternal Fire - GamerLegion it will be.

Eternal Fire uniforms

Let's open the match analysis with an analysis of Eternal Fire's form. In this match, they will play as the match favourite with odds to win at 1.4.

The 15-team world ranking team has experienced difficulties throughout the season. Despite the huge number of matches, success has been achieved occasionally.

At the beginning of the year Eternal Fire won ESL Pro League Season 17: European Conference, thus securing their place at EPL S17. The Main Event ended miserably - only top 20 and no group.

Participated in BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023: European RMR B. There they took TOP-14, which was not enough to reach the only Major of the season.

In the middle of the year, Eternal Fire showed their best form. The Turks finished in the top 4 twice, but did so at TIR-B tournaments. They broke into the top four at CCT North Europe Series #7 and Thunderpick World Championship 2023: European Series #1.

Before the ESL Pro League Season 8 Long Round, MAJ3R's team played on CCT Central Europe and Pinnacle Cup V. Both championships ended for them on top 8.

Eternal Fire played their debut match at ESL Pro League Season 18 against Cloud9. They played as the number two and got a natural result: 0-2, but with 11 and 12 rounds respectively.

In the first match of the lower grid Eternal Fire played against 9INE. The Turks were clearly on form, as they managed to run over a pretty tough competitor without much difficulty. The match ended with a score of 2-0 in favour of Eternal Fire. As a result, the ESL Pro League Season 18 run ended very well: the team barely qualified for the play-offs of the tournament, where they managed to win two series. EF left Astralis and BIG behind, but Ledge and Natus Vincere.

EF later made the Top 16 at Roobet Cup 2023, where they finished Top 16 and Top 2 at PARI, Please. In 2024, Eternal Fire attended PGL Major Copenhagen 2024: European Qualifier B, where they finished in the Top 2, advancing to European RMR A.

IEM Katowice 2024 started with the Play-In stage. By the way, they passed it very easily: 13-1 against BB Team and 2-0 against Rebels Gaming allowed them to get into the group stage. In the first match of the group stage they also easily defeated Falcons (13-9; 13-6), and then showed a very cheerful CS in the match against the top-2 team of the world FaZe Clan, but Ledge were defeated on three maps (1-2). At the end of IEM Katowice 2024 Eternal Fire took the TOP-12, and then started to play at PGL Major Copenhagen 2024: European RMR A.

At the qualifying tournament, the Turks finished in the top 8, which gave them the opportunity to qualify for PGL CS 2 Major Copenhagen 2024, which is true in the first stage.

At PGL CS 2 Major Copenhagen 2024 Eternal Fire are feeling very good so far. The Turks have 2 wins and 1 loss: they beat Mongolz and Pain, but lost to Heroic 0-2 in the match for the next stage.

Anubis (7 matches, 85% wins), Mirage (4 matches, 75% wins) are doing very well. Vertigo - 71% wins in 7 matches, Inferno and Overpass - 3 wins in 5 matches.

GamerLegion Form

We continue the match breakdown with an analysis of GamerLegion's match form. In this match the "random" guest at this Major plays the second number with odds to win at around 2.8.

After the triumphant Paris Major a GamerLegion gave up in terms of performance. However, they are not weak, otherwise they would look much worse at major tournaments than they do now.

In 2023, GamerLegion didn't show much promise. They played well at local events like Thunderpick Bitcoin Series #2 where they won, CCT West Europe Series #1 where they finished top 2, RES Western European Masters: Spring 2023 where they finished top 2 again.

There was also TOP-1 at Elisa Invitational Winter 2023, but the main achievement happened in May this year. It was then that GamerLegion defied logic and made it to the grand final of BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023, where they defeated the hosts of the tournament - Vitality.

• GamerLegion lineup: acoR, Snax, Keoz, isak, volt.

After a great injury in Paris, GamerLegion lost two of their headliners - siuhy and iM. Newcomers neaLaN and volt are not yet reaching the level of Top 2 Major a, and their KDs are eloquent: 0.64 for the former and 0.78 for the latter.

The first match at IEM Cologne 2023 was against Monte. The Ukrainian club was head to head and shut down their vis-a-vis with a score of 2-0 (16-8 Mirage, 16-11 Overpass).

GamerLegion managed to switch on at the last moment. In the match against TheMongolZ, on the first map GL Ledge were 8-16 up on Mirage, but cameback Inferno (16-8), and closed the series on the dopes with Overpass (19-15).

The International was even more interesting against fnatic. On the first map Vertigo GL lost with the score 5-16, but on Inferno GamerLegion played 16-12, and on Ancient they closed the dopes with the score 19-17.

As a result, IEM Cologne 2023 ended with GL in 8th place. They were knocked out by Cloud9, but the result is a good one considering the lineup change.

At Gamers8 Long Sogpeg were matched against Apeks, the other opener of the Paris Major. Both maps gave GL a serious headache, but after dopes on Mirage and a close fight on Overpass GL made it to the next round. However, that's where GL's G8 journey ended at the Top 8, when they lost to Heroic 1-2.

GamerLegion later attended ESL Pro League Season 18 and IEM Sydney 2023. Both tournaments didn't go well: top-20 at EPL, top-8 at IEM Sydney.

ESL Challenger Jonkoping 2023 GL is going pretty well. First Ledge beat MIBR 9-13, and then beat 3DMAX 2-1 in the match for life. With a race left, GL made it to the top 6, but there Ledgeili Vp.

Towards the end of the year Gamer Legion played at Elisa Masters Espoo 2023, where they reached the top 6, BB Dacha (top 8) and ESL Challenger at DreamHack Atlanta. Top 8 there again.

There were two big tournaments in the 2024 season before RMR's Long Sogpeg - BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2024 and IEM Katowice 2024. Both GL championships finished in the top 12, which I would call a pretty good result.

At PGL Major Copenhagen 2024: European RMR B GL Long Sogpeg started with a no-hitter against VItality (3-13) before beating Pera (13-6) and losing to ENCE (14-16) on dps. Later Ledgealy and Heroic, as well as 9Pandas in the Decider match, after which they were unable to go to the Major.

However, by the will of fate they ended up in Copenhagen, all because 9Pandas couldn't get visas for travelling to Denmark. However, the stand-in looks good so far: GL play with the score 2-1.

GL's best map is Overpass. The team has 6 wins and 2 losses there.

There was also Ancient with 2 wins and 1 loss. Still have Mirage in the pool (57% wins in 7 matches).

On Inferno they are 2-2. Nuke has 1 try and a loss.

Not playing on Anubis and Vertigo.

From this match I expect a beautiful Counter-Strike and a win for Eternal Fire. Turks look good even against the background of more serious teams than GamerLegion, and therefore should pass. GL in turn can impose a fight, but I think they will not be enough to win.
