We continue to prepare for the Long Run of the main tournament of the year in October - The International 2023. We are preparing in a very peculiar format - The International 2023 - China Qualifier review.

We are talking about qualifiers for TI 2023 in the Chinese region. Here begins the most interesting part of The International - the match between the favourites of the qualifiers. Among them are Aster and Xtreme Gaming.

The clubs will open the third day of qualifiers in a Bo3 match. The winner of the series will advance through the winner ov grid further to the upper grid finals. The loser will drop to the bottom of the grid, where they will play against the winner of Holy Grail and Team Bright.

Team Aster uniforms

We start the match with an analysis of the form of the undisputed favourites. Team Aster.

Bookmakers believe in the success of Aster. The odds for their victory is at 1.5.

There is no need to doubt the ability of Aster. Of all the teams represented at these qualifiers.

In the first round of DPC 2023 Team Aster "gave" the championship in the region, Ledgeiv on tiebreakers PSG.LGD. Following the top 2 at DPC 2023: China Upper Division, Team Aster travelled to Peru, where they played "average": Monet and company took the top 8.

In the second round of DPC 2023: China Upper Division, Team Aster finished in the top 4, which was noticeably worse than last time. However, it was enough to qualify for The Berlin Major 2023. SumaiL, the main current star of the club, made his debut for Aster at the Berlin tournament. To tell the truth, the debut was not the most successful (TOP-8), but it was excellent for the new mid laner.

Before that Aster played at DreamLeague S19. In DreamLeague S19 Aster played at the top 9-10. Then after offensive tiebreaks failed to get out of the group.

After that it was DPC 2023: China Tour 3. At the home league everything ended with the third place for Aster, which can hardly be called a successful result.

However, showing at least some performance on the international stage was not always possible. DreamLeague Season 20 is a prime example, which was completely failed by Aster. At the 1,000,000 tournament, the Chinese top club dropped out of the second group stage early, which, however, was still better than Liquid's result.

Later was The Bali Major 2023, where Aster failed again, finishing in the top 12. The last tournament before qualifying for The International 2023 was Riyadh Masters 2023. Aster finished in the top 8, which is not bad, but not good either, just like the whole season of the titular Chinese.

However, in the qualifiers, Aster are looking as good as they should so far. In the first match, they swatted Team Zero 2-0 without any problems, winning the series in less than an hour.

Aster's most popular heroes

Rubick appeared most often in the picks - 6 matches, 50% wins. Keeper of The Light, Storm Spirit (5 matches each, 80% wins) were also peaked.

There was Monkey King, Underlord, Terrorblade, Pugna (4 matches each, 75% wins).

Xtreme Gaming's form

Talk about Xtreme Gaming's playing condition. In this match they will play second number.

There is no special faith in the victory of another top team. Bookmakers give Xtreme Gaming victory odds around 2.4.

Xtreme Gaming are completely consistent with their position against Aster. They have had a bad year to say the least.

At DPC 2023: China Upper Division, Xtreme Gaming finished in the top 5. For a team with such a roster, that result was not just unacceptable, but rather terrible.

The deplorable state of Xtreme Gaming became even more evident after The Lima Major 2023, where Paparazzi and company did not qualify. At the tournament in Peru, only Aster and PSG.LGD showed some promise, while Knights and Ehome, who Xtreme Ledge played in their home league, were suspected of using cheats and ceased to exist after Lima.

However, Xtreme managed to pull itself together. The team called up the experienced Kaka for the fourth position and started to play. Xtreme won their home league with this squad. In this lineup they travelled to Berlin, where they made it to the group stage of The Berlin Major 2023. However, they finished in the top 12, which is not very good.

The third round was a nightmare for Xtreme. They finished in the top 5, which is not a critical indicator, but for teams of Paparazzi and company level, not making it to the Major with not the strongest competition is a failure.

Before the Long Copeg Riyadh Masters 2023, Xtreme Gaming invited XinQ to the team. The PSG.LGD legend was supposed to strengthen the roster, but Xtreme got about the same as they had at the previous championships - Top 16.

They made their debut at The International 2023 - China Qualifier with a match against Aster.Aries. Despite 2-0 on the scoreboard, Xtreme Gaming still had to deal with the youth of Aster.

The most popular hero of Xtreme Gaming is Storm Spirit. Paparazzi played him 5 times, but won only 2 matches.

We also took Alchemist (4 matches, 75% wins), Phoenix (4 matches, 50% wins), Keeper of the Light (4 matches, 25% wins), Rubick (4 matches, 25% wins).

There was also Pangolier, Underlord, Pugna, Dragon Knight. All heroes appeared 3 times and won 2 matches each.

Head-to-head history

The teams have previously played each other in regional tournaments. All games ended with the score 2-1 and the overall score is also 2-1 in favour of Aster.

Despite the close results in head-to-head meetings, I'm leaning towards a different outcome this time around. In my opinion, Aster should close their vis-a-vis with a score of 2-0.

However, I recommend betting on a win. Still, at the qualifiers can be anything.
