Among the contenders aiming to advance further are JDG and Weibo Gaming. However, international qualification is still far off, as reaching at least the Top 2 is required.
Let’s break down who has the upper hand between Weibo Gaming and JDG in this knockout round of the LPL 2025 Split 2.
Let’s go.
JDG Form
We start our match preview of JDG vs. Weibo Gaming by analyzing JDG’s form. They come into this matchup as favorites, with odds around 1.4 for their win.
JD Gaming became champions of the Spring LPL with relative ease. Their only tough matchup was in the upper bracket semifinals, where BLG managed to take two maps off them.

Additionally, JD Gaming won the first major international event of 2023 – the Mid-Season Invitational 2023. In the LPL Summer 2023 group stage, they nearly matched BLG’s record, finishing with a score of 14-2.
In the first round of the main stage, JD Gaming faced LNG Esports. LNG played at an elite level and forced the reigning world champions to battle across five maps, but JDG still came out on top.
Next came BLG, who didn’t put up as much resistance. JD Gaming swept the LPL Spring and MSI 2023 finalists in the LPL Summer 2023 upper final, winning 3-0.
In the LPL Summer 2023 Grand Final, LNG Esports gave JDG a serious challenge, taking two maps, but it wasn’t enough to stop Scout and co.
JDG debuted at Worlds 2023 with a win over BDS. Credit to the European team, who held up until the 20-minute mark, though many expected a more dominant result than the final 14-6.
JDG’s second match was against Bilibili Gaming, MSI 2023 and LPL Spring 2023 runners-up. As the best team in China, JDG easily beat BLG with a 19-7 score in just 24 minutes.
To reach the playoffs, JDG faced domestic rivals LNG Esports. They won the match, but not without difficulties (2-1).
In the first playoff round, JDG played against KT Rolster. After dropping the first map, they demonstrated why they were the top contenders for Worlds 2023, dominating the rest of the series.
Then came a completely different story. Against T1, JDG only managed to take one map in a best-of-five. Their Golden Road came to an end with this loss to T1.
JDG began the Demacia Cup 2023 playoffs with a match against TOP Esports, winning 3-2. Before that, they had swept Rare Atom 3-0. However, in the Grand Final, they lost 0-3 to BLG, finishing 2nd.
In LPL Spring 2024, JDG placed 3rd in the regular season with a 13-3 record. They beat Weibo Gaming 3-0 in the first round of playoffs, but then suffered a heavy 0-3 loss to TOP Esports. In the Top 3 decider, JDG had a tough match against NiP, which they barely won, but were then eliminated by TES.
In the revamped LPL Summer 2024, JDG dominated Group A in the Opening Stage (6-0), then went 4-4 in the Rumble Stage to finish 5th and move into round two of playoffs. There, they lost 2-3 to NiP, marking the biggest upset of the split.

We continue the JDG vs. Weibo Gaming preview with an analysis of Weibo’s form. They are underdogs in this matchup with odds around 3.
Weibo Gaming is a relatively new name in the LPL, having emerged on the esports radar in 2021 and debuting in the LPL in 2022.
For a newcomer, they had solid results. In 2022, they reached Top 8 twice: Top 6 in LPL Spring and Top 8 in Summer.
In their most recent event before LPL Summer 2023, Spring Split 2023, they again finished Top 6. Not surprising, given their strong roster.
Weibo roster: Breathe, Tian, Xiaohu, Light, Hang.
They confidently entered the playoffs, going 10-6 in the LPL Summer 2023 group stage and finishing 6th.
First playoff opponents were Ninjas in Pyjamas, who had a great run but couldn’t overcome Weibo (3-1).
Next were LNG Esports, who had a great regular season and nearly beat JDG in the finals. But against Weibo, LNG had trouble, eventually losing 2-3.
In the Regional Finals, Weibo started in the lower bracket against TES, winning 3-2 in a hard-fought series.
Then came the match against EDG for a Worlds 2023 slot. Weibo played well and won 3-1, qualifying for the championship.
At Worlds 2023, they opened with a dominant win over NRG.
Next came G2 Esports – this was the tournament's biggest surprise. G2 played a mind-blowing series and defeated Weibo. The shock loss continued as Weibo then lost to KT Rolster.
Falling into the 1-2 bracket, Weibo easily beat MAD Lions and then Fnatic in a must-win Swiss stage match, coming back from 0-1.
In the first playoff round, they beat NRG again. The West’s last team only challenged them on one map.
In the semifinal, Weibo played against BLG in an LPL derby and won 3-2 in a spectacular series.
The season ended with a Grand Final vs. T1, where Weibo were crushed, giving T1 their 4th Worlds title.
Before LPL Spring 2024, they also played in the Demacia Cup 2023, exiting in the first playoff round.
In LPL Spring 2024, Weibo underperformed, finishing 7th with an 8-8 record. In playoffs, they beat Invictus Gaming 3-2 and then LNG 3-2 before losing to JDG. Final result: Top 6.
In LPL Summer 2024, Weibo started in Group D, placed 3rd, and advanced to the upper Rumble Stage, finishing 5-3 to enter playoffs in round 3. They beat NiP 3-1, then lost 0-3 to BLG.
In the Top 3 decider, Weibo pulled off a surprise win over LNG, then beat TES 3-2 to reach the Grand Final. Unfortunately, they were crushed by BLG again (0-3).
At Worlds 2024, as last year’s runner-up, they qualified through LPL Regional Finals, finishing 2nd. They lost their opener to Gen.G, beat Liquid, but then lost to G2 again and fell into the 1-2 bracket. They beat Fnatic (despite losing game 1), then DPlus KIA 2-1, and moved to playoffs.
In the first playoff round, they defeated LNG Esports, but then fell to BLG in the match for the Grand Final.
In LPL 2025 Split 1, Weibo placed Top 8. In Split 2, they were Top 2 in Group A and Top 6 in the Rumble Stage.

JDG vs. Weibo Prediction – LPL 2025 Split 2
This should be the most evenly matched series of the first round. In my opinion, it will go to five games, and either team can win. But we have to pick a winner — let’s go with Weibo.
Prediction: Weibo win.
