Gaimin Gladiators faced a challenging day in the lower bracket of The Riyadh Masters 2023, putting their perfect season record on the line. Having reached every grand final this year via the upper bracket, their dominance was tested as they stumbled against Team Liquid, a fierce rival, in the upper bracket opening series. Despite their setback, the Gladiators fought back with impressive plays to keep their hopes alive.

In their first lower bracket match, Gaimin Gladiators encountered tough resistance from Tundra Esports, the current International champions. However, they managed to eliminate the champions from the tournament. Next up were the underdogs, Quest Esports.

In game 1, Quest showed strong form and initially dominated the Gladiators. Yet, a high ground attempt gone awry turned the tide in favor of Gaimin, leading to their victory. Tournament admins investigated a pause during the match but found no foul play, allowing the game to resume. Despite Quest's efforts to bounce back in game 2, the haunting results from game 1 seemed to affect their performance, and Gaimin took full advantage, securing their elimination.

Facing BetBoom Team in the next match, Gaimin Gladiators had to work hard for victory. BetBoom displayed methodical play in game 1, securing the win despite Gaimin's initial lead. However, Gaimin retaliated strongly in game 2 with a Medusa draft to even the series. In the decisive game 3, an impressive wombo-combo from Gaimin sealed their victory and eliminated BetBoom Team.

The Road Ahead

Although Gaimin Gladiators triumphed in their lower bracket series, they are not in the clear just yet. To secure a spot in the grand finals of The Riyadh Masters 2023, they must win two more series, and the competition promises to be fierce.
